FRONT COVER

Whilst making the front cover on photo shop I learnt to use a lot of tools, for example to edit the picture I had to use 3 tools
  1. Magnetic Lasso
  2. Magic Wand
  3. Eraser
These tools took a while to get use to, and the image itself took a long time to go around it. But the outcaome was good and worth the time toaken to complete it.

Double Page Spread

The double page spread is the most difficult of all, its not the designing that is difficult it is the fact that we had to make it on a programme that I have never used before this was called
Adobe InDesign
I had to get use to a whole new layout this programme didn't have any layers to use, and most of the options that I found in photo shop were either not in this programme or in a different location, so it was hard to get use to it.

But I began to get use to it, the main tool it was missing was the magic wand tool so i still needed to use photo shop,. Due to this I had to save it as a new format '.TIFF', this allowed my to insert a picture without a background. I have also started to write about the band members but as of today it is still a work in progress.

Contents page

I really like my contents page, I had an idea on my contents page and I think it went well, I scanned an A4 lined pad, I then used this as my background, I think this looks good because writing and writing pads naturally go together, I have used a wide range of fonts and colours on this page to make it look as bight and attractive as possible, in the lower left corner I have a photo of the band again, and again I cut it out, using the tools I have learned to us in photo shop.

Music Mag Front Cover

Front Cover.
I feel that my front cover has gone really well, the main image that I have used on the front works really well with the background colours. I think that the way that the masthead has been made is good, the record and the red writing has gone really well together, I used alot of blending options on my text for my masthead I used:
  • Drop Shadow
  • Inner Glow
  • Outer Glow
I think that the cover lines are well laid out, my faourite feature of the cover lines are the words tat stand out 'Exclusive' is an example it stands out as I have made it slightly bigger and changed the colour. It took me a while to cut out the main image but the time taken shows in the image, I feel that it is a strong image I have added a drop shadow to the image I feel that it makes it look like the image is coming off of the page.

For my front page I used a few different fonts, these fonts were found on a website called www.dafont.com, this website was a real help as it held a vast amount of great fonts tat have helped make my front cover what it is now.

Photo Shoot

TAKING THE PHOTOS - I used a school camera and used the school lighting room.

I have already began to make my music magazine, i think that hardest part of all was to get everyone together and take the photos, we had to organise this. but overall I am very happy with the outcome of these photos, as I was able to use a professional lighting system. Below are one of my images I have taken:

School Magazine Completition

Today I have finished my school magazine front cover and my contents page.

My front cover was almost finished anyway, but I added an additional two cover lines and moved the cover lines o a beter suitted location. I think that my magazine is well layed out and I think that I have a strong central image, the effects used where aimed to help the central image stand out, the black and white background is an example of this. I think that the text (Cover lines) could be improved as some parts of them you cannot easily read.

I feel that my contents page has gone well; the scroll links with school, the image at the bottom of the page is a nice addition rather than just pure writing. I think that the writing looks good going around the picture. However I 'am disapointed that I couldn't use my desired font it didnt look good enough as it was staring to break apart. As a whole though I think that my contents page is successfuly.

Planning...

Planning...
Today I have been making sure that I have completed all of my work for my planning folder, I have edited some work such as my Mind Map, magazine covers and ensured that the analysis make's sense.

The photos I have taken in the recent weeks for my school magazine have al been put on one A3 document together. I have also ensured that all of my work has been saved in the correct place. I have been given my proposal back and have received feedback. I can now make adjustments to it where needed.

I have been set homework over the half term and will start to really consider how the music magazine is going to shape up.

School Magazine designing...

This week I have been designing my school magazine, at the moment I 'am fairly new to Photoshop and I 'am still getting to grips with how it works. I have three designs at the moment, and currently have a favourite.

I have started to use alot of tools on Photoshop such as the:
  • Healing tool
  • Magnetic Lasso
  • Dodge and burn tool
  • Fill Bucket
  • Magic Wand.
I 'am fairly happy with my designs but I 'am still having trouble on placement and which effects to use.

So far in media...

First Media Blog...

Work towards my planning folder:

So far I have made a mind map of magazines and which genres they publish, I have also made two magazine cover analysis. I think my cover analysis went well as they are both full of information and look well presented.

I have also made a picture sequence, using the school media camera's, this was enjoyable and a good warm up with the camera's. I think the picture sequence went well in some areas (Framing and Composition) and not so well in other areas (Lighting, sharpness and focus). (This picture is my friend James Cullingham Posing for my picture sequence)
